Resources for Your Business

This page provides information you can use in setting up your desktop publishing and printing business.  Hawes Enterprises has no connection to any of the websites mentioned here.

Printer Reviews

Two websites that we recommend for getting unbiased reviews on printers are:

CNET: http://reviews.cnet.com/printers/?tag=leftColumnArea.0

PC World: http://www.pcworld.com/products/peripherals/printers.html

Printer Supplies

We recommend purchasing OEM supplies of ink, toner, and other consumables for your printer, but you can save a lot of money by purchasing these items from a Power Seller on ebay.  Just look for the Power Seller logo on the right side of the product description page on ebay under “Meet the Seller”.  You’ll also want a Power Seller with a 100% Positive feedback score, or close to it.  To further protect yourself, pay for your purchase with PayPal.

Paper Cutter

For small projects it is possible to use a small craft cutter to cut your paper and card stock, but for larger jobs you might want to step up to a manual commercial cutter.  One that we’ve found to work quite well is the Martin Yale 7000E Commercial Stack Cutter.  You can purchase online from a number of reputable retailers at prices starting around $675.  You can check out this cutter at the Martin Yale website: http://www.martinyale.com/
